Please read the article,

by Maria Popova

Next you will pick a word and come up with your own Philographic. Remember it can be a regular shape but the background and other elements have to complement the shape.

Lesson 15- Non-Profit Poster

For your Non-Profit Poster you will either pick a Non-Profit or you will create your own.

The components of this project are as follows and create in order: (Note: Each one should be their own layer to save time. This way you can edit instead of redoing.)

You need a background of images that support your cause. The images must be your or modified with Image Trace or other techniques. DO NOT DRAG YOUR IMAGES INTO ILLUSTRATOR. You need to Place them.

There has to be a logo and it needs to be your design. Even if the Non-Profit has a logo you have to redesign it. No exceptions. Think of fonts. Think of symbols. BE CREATIVE. No boring designs please. You may download fonts via dafont.com for this project.

You need to inform the viewer in details what your cause is. Make sure to be specific. Use data if you can.

There has to be a hierarchy of your work. Your LOGO needs to be prominent. You background has to be interesting and catch the viewers eye. Your information has to be accurate and engaging.

Rubric: 10 points each.

____ The images are clear, relevant and well placed.
____ Your information is accurate and engaging.
____ Your logo is well designed.
____ Your overall image is well balanced with correct placement of the 3 components.
____ The design is informative and successfully promotes your cause.

Monster 3D Template

For this project you will need to come up with a name for your monster and you will need to come up with a 5 sentence story about your monster that will help sell it to a 5 year old you. As in your client is a 5 year old you.

The best way to create the file for your Monster is to download the file below onto your desktop. Than open a new file in Illustrator that is 8 in by 11in. Once you have the file set you will need to place the Monster Template into your new file by going to File- than Place. Once your file is placed you will got to the bar above the image and to the arrow to the right of Image Trace and scroll down to Black and White Logo.

Once that is complete the bar that had the Image Trace will have Expand. Click on Expand and your Monster will turn into a Live Paint Image. Go to the tool bar and find the Shape Builder Tool and hold it down to find the Live Paint Bucket or click K.

You are ready to create the Monster.

Make sure you have the following:

1st Artboard:
A pattern on the body. You must create you own pattern.
A face on the body.

2nd Artboard: (You can create another Artboard by viewing Layers and there is a tab for Artbaord click on that tab and go to the bottom and click on the new page and you will get a second artboard.)

Graphics are all around you — print media, Internet, TV, packaging, and the document you’re reading now! As our world becomes increasingly visual, graphics are impacting how information is delivered. This course provides experiences for students to use image, type, color, illustration, and photography to create dynamic media using Adobe Creative Suite. Students will focus on the computer skills, design process, and aesthetic decisions needed to create print and digital media that effectively communication messages and information.

We started at the point of how to define Graphic Design with Andrew Mundi's interactive site on The Principles of Graphic Design and excerpts from the book Go by Chip Kidd.
